Canon has announced the EOS 5D Mark IV, its fourth generation 5D full-frame DSLR, for the Indian market at a price of Rs 2,54,995 for the body only. The Indian consumer will also get the EOS 5D Mark IV with EF 24-70mm f/4L kit lens for Rs 3,06,995 and the EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM lens for Rs 3,24,995.
It will go on sale in India from early September onwards. Along with the camera, Canon also launched two L series EF lenses, namely, EF 16-35mm f/2.8L III USM Ultra wide zoom lens and EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM standard zoom lens.
The 5D Mark IV was launched in the US yesterday, and here are the price points for the US variants, which are almost Rs 20,000 lower than the Indian prices: $3499 (approx Rs 2,35,000) for the body. If you add in the 24-70mm F4L IS kit, you will get it for $4399 (approx Rs 2,95,000) and with a 24-105mm F4L IS II USM you will get the Canon 5D Mark IV at $4599 (approx Rs 3,08,000).
The Canon EOS 5D Mark IV a new 30MP dual-pixel CMOS sensor which is paired with DIGIC 6+ image processor. The 5D Mark IV is capable of shooting 7 frames per second and supports 4K 30p video recording as well. The native ISO range on the 5D Mark IV is ISO 100 to ISO 32,000 (expandable to ISO 50 to ISO 102,400). The dual pixel AF gives you continuous focus tracking of subjects in the Live video mode.
The camera comes with 61AF points which is the same that was seen on the 5D Mark III, but the points on the 5D Mark IV end up covering a larger frame area. Out of the 61 AF points, 41 are cross-type. Also all the 61 AF points are selectable.
It has a fixed 3.2-inch 1620k-dot LCD display which is touch sensitive. It can shoot videos at 4K resolution (30p, 24p); Full HD resolution (60p, 30p, 24p) and HD resolution (120p). It also comes with an anti-flicker feature which compensates for the flickering lights seen indoors in areas such as gymnasiums and swimming pools.
In terms of connectivity, you get USB 3.0 port, mini HDMI, microphone and headphone jack, built-in Wi-Fi, NFC as well as GPS.
