Galaxy S27 Series Leak Reveals a Familiar Design – Is Samsung Playing It Safe?

The Samsung Galaxy S27 series will retain the display sizes of its predecessor, according to a new leak about screen protectors for the upcoming smartphones. The standard Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+, and Galaxy S27 Ultra are set to feature 6.27-inch, 6.66-inch, and 6.89-inch displays, respectively, according to GSM Arena. Months away from its launch, the clamor around Samsung’s flagship devices is growing by the day. Following recent chipset leaks, the new accessories offer another glimpse into the design of Samsung’s forthcoming flagship devices.

Samsung Galaxy S27 Series Screen Protectors Leak

Images shared by SammyGuru purportedly show several transparent and privacy glass screen protectors for the Samsung Galaxy S27, S27+, and S27 Ultra. The alleged measurements suggest Samsung may retain its traditional front design for the upcoming flagship series.

As the accessories come from a third-party supplier, there is no guarantee that the screen protectors are accurate. That said, they seem to feature a central punch-hole layout and slightly rounded corners across all three Samsung Galaxy S27 models. In addition, the S27 Ultra apparently adopts the same gently curved edges as its predecessor.

Notably, the leaked accessories align with the purported dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy S27. As reported earlier, the standard model is expected to feature a 6.27-inch display, while the S27 Plus will supposedly have a 6.66-inch panel.

Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra will reportedly keep its 6.89-inch screen, keeping the size gap between the top-tier flagships consistent. Effectively, every Galaxy S27 model will reportedly target a specific customer base that prioritizes a certain screen size.

Curiously, the leak does not mention the Samsung Galaxy S27 Pro. Previously, it was speculated that Samsung might introduce a fourth flagship smartphone featuring a 6.47-inch display. In other words, the S27 Pro would be positioned between the Plus and Ultra variants in terms of screen size.

While the leak suggests the Galaxy S27 Pro might not appear in 2023, the model could still debut later. At the same time, component shortages might explain why the leak omits the S27 Pro. Specifically, a reported RAM shortage might force Samsung to cancel the budget-friendly model.

The memory size will reportedly be a controversial topic for the Samsung Galaxy S27 series. According to recent rumors, the base models will only include 8GB of RAM. Presumably, this will anger consumers who expected a significant memory increase in Samsung’s upcoming flagships.

Likewise, rumors about the Galaxy S27 series’ potential chipset fuel speculation about the company’s financial struggles. Notably, Samsung might switch to Exynos modems for its next flagship series and, for the first time in recent memory, cancel Snapdragon chips.

The primary reason for the potential switch is the alleged poor thermal management of the recently released Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset. Presumably, Samsung will use Exynos modems only in local markets to mitigate the risks of the global chip shortage.

In summary, the latest leak offers more detail on the potential design and size of the Samsung Galaxy S27 series. Based on the leak, Samsung is likely to retain its traditional front design for the 2023 flagship series. However, the company might fine-tune the design rather than introduce a radically different layout.

Beyond screen size, the leak has raised more questions about the Samsung Galaxy S27 series. Most notably, the rumored cancellation of the Galaxy S27 Pro, increased RAM, and a switch to Exynos modems are major concerns. Accordingly, the next leak will be crucial in understanding Samsung’s actual plans for the Galaxy S27 series.
