The wearable health wrist band company, Fitbit, has confirmed that it is developing an app for Windows Phone 8.1. This piece of news has been confirmed by the company on its community forum. A statment on its forum reads, ”Fitbit is developing an application for Windows Phone 8.1. Thank you for all your feedback and support!”

By bringing an app to the Microsoft’s mobile platform, Fitbit will expand its reach further beyond leading platforms like Android and iOS.  On Android, the app comes with a companion Fitbit widget that displays the user’s progress without the need to open the app. It will be interesting to see if Fitbit plans to take advantage of the live tiles to provide a quick peep into user progress.

With tech industry betting big in the wearable health sector, Fitbit is known to be a fierce competitor. However, its recent Fitbit Force has been marred with some complaints over skin irritation, revealed Slashgear.

Apart from Fitbit confirming its working on a Windows Phone 8.1  app, the company hasn’t disclosed anything much. The availability of the app is still unclear.
