Xiaomi has finally announced its 5.5-inch phablet Redmi Note in India, which will be available in two variants – a dual-SIM with 3G and a single-SIM with 4G support. The 3G dual-SIM version will sell at Rs 8,999, while the 4G version is priced at Rs 9,999.

In an exclusive tie-up with Airtel, the 4G variant will sell in select Airtel retail stores. Keeping up with its flash-sale tradition, both the 3G and 4G versions of the Redmi Note will also be sold through Flipkart.

It was Hugo Barra who spilled the beans about Note coming to India and, Xiaomi India head, Manu Jain later confirmed to TechTrainIndia that the device will be coming to India in December.

The Redmi Note has a 5.5-inch 720p IPS display. It boasts of 1.7GHz MediaTek MT6592 octa-core processor, which we’ve seen on the HTC Desire 616 and Micromax Canvas Knight. It features a healthy 2GB of RAM, making it one of the cheapest smartphones with 2GB of RAM.

Other specs include 8GB onboard storage, microSD card slot up to 32GB, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front shooter for selfies and 3100mAh battery. It runs Xiaomi’s MIUI OS. The Redmi Note, if you recall, is something of a record breaker in terms of sales, with Xiaomi having sold 10,000 units in just a second in Taiwan.
