Samsung has announced that the Galaxy S5 will be making an official debut in India on March 27th. The company will be announcing details such as pricing, and will likely start taking pre-orders on the same day, though actual device availability will commence on April 11. The press event will hopefully shed light on whether India (and other Asian markets) will be getting the yet unannounced Exynos variant of the Galaxy S5 or the Snapdragon 801 model like the U.S. and Europe. Details on the Gear 2 and Gear Fit should be revealed as well.
The Galaxy S5 is water-resistant and sports a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display of 1080p resolution, a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16-megapixel camera, 16GB of storage and a
microSD slot, Wi-Fi, HSPA+, LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC connectivity, and a 2,800 mAh battery. It runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat with an improved version of Samsung’s custom UI, and comes with unique features like a fingerprint sensor, heart rate monitor, Ultra Power Saving Mode for extended battery life, and a faux leather back cover that’s designed to give users a firmer and more comfortable grip.
