Samsung Unveils 200MP ISOCELL HPC Camera Sensor with DeepPix Technology and 16-Bit HDR

Samsung has officially introduced the 200 MP ISOCELL HPC, a next-generation flagship smartphone camera sensor built to push mobile photography beyond existing limits. At the heart of this new imaging platform sits the industry’s first DeepPix pixel architecture, paired with support for single-frame 16-bit HDR and in-sensor HDR processing across zoom levels reaching up to 4x.

The fresh sensor arrives with a thoroughly reworked pixel structure aimed at gathering more light, trimming digital noise, and preserving richer detail across difficult lighting conditions. Rather than relying on software tricks alone, Samsung has focused on hardware-level refinements to improve image quality from the source.

Samsung 200 MP ISOCELL HPC Specifications and Features

The standout innovation inside the Samsung 200 MP ISOCELL HPC is undoubtedly DeepPix technology. This newly engineered pixel architecture reshapes how every individual pixel stores incoming light before reaching saturation, allowing the sensor to retain more visual information during image capture.

Samsung complements this design with its Front Deep Trench Isolation (FDTI) technology. The company has enlarged both the photodiode capacity and the shared floating diffusion region within each pixel, delivering a claimed 60% increase in Full Well Capacity (FWC) compared with earlier 200 MP ISOCELL generations.

Serving as the direct successor to the Samsung ISOCELL HPB “Thanos” sensor found in the Vivo X300 and Vivo X300 Pro, the ISOCELL HPC is engineered to capture stronger highlights, preserve deeper shadow detail, reduce unwanted image noise, and generate cleaner signal output under demanding shooting environments.

Compared with the Samsung 200 MP ISOCELL HP5, the new ISOCELL HPC adopts a larger 1/1.3-inch sensor format. The expanded physical size gives Samsung additional room for sophisticated pixel-level processing while improving the sensor’s ability to gather light.

One of the headline capabilities is native single-frame 16-bit HDR. Instead of stitching together multiple exposures, the sensor records the complete dynamic range within a single capture. Samsung states this approach produces up to four times richer color expression than conventional HDR methods while reducing motion artifacts commonly associated with multi-frame processing.

The practical outcome is more faithful reproduction in scenes containing harsh sunlight, intense backlighting, or dramatic contrast. Bright areas retain texture, darker regions preserve detail, and colors appear balanced without crushed blacks or blown highlights.

Samsung has also broadened HDR functionality across zoom levels. The ISOCELL HPC maintains full single-frame HDR support from standard 1x capture through 4x in-sensor zoom, allowing users to preserve dynamic range even while magnifying distant subjects.

Video recording receives a meaningful upgrade as well. The sensor supports recording at 8K resolution up to 30 frames per second, 4K at 180 frames per second, and Full HD 1080p at an impressive 360 frames per second for ultra-smooth slow-motion footage.

High-Precision-Microlens

To strengthen optical performance, Samsung integrates two additional technologies into the sensor. High Precision Microlens (High-P) improves light concentration on individual pixels, while High Transmittance ARL (High-T) enhances light transmission before reaching the imaging surface.

Beyond those enhancements, the Samsung 200 MP ISOCELL HPC features a native resolution of 16,384 × 12,288 pixels and supports the Tetra²pixel color filter, QDR autofocus, Smart-ISO Pro HDR, along with multiple RAW capture formats including RAW10, RAW12, RAW14, and RAW16.

Samsung has not confirmed which smartphone will debut the ISOCELL HPC. Current industry speculation points toward the Oppo Find X10 Pro Max and the Vivo X500 series as leading candidates to introduce the sensor in upcoming flagship devices.

The Samsung ISOCELL HPC is also expected to compete directly with Sony’s 200 MP LYT-901. Both sensors are widely anticipated to power a new generation of premium Android smartphones scheduled to arrive later this year.
