Pawprint Studio has officially released Aniimo, its creature-catching open-world RPG, across PC and current-generation consoles. The game is now available worldwide, while players waiting for the mobile edition will have to wait another week.
The Android and iOS versions of Aniimo are scheduled to launch on September 23, 2026.
For those unfamiliar with the title, Aniimo occupies a similar corner of the gaming world as Pokémon and Palworld, combining creature collection with exploration, combat, and a sizeable open environment. The full release arrived on September 16, 2026, and the game follows a free-to-play model.
PC players can jump in through Steam and the Epic Games Store. On consoles, Aniimo is available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo Switch 2 owners, however, will not find the game on their platform at launch.
Pawprint Studio has also rolled out a fresh launch trailer alongside the worldwide release. It offers another look at the game’s creatures, environments, battles, and overall adventure before players set foot in its world.
Interestingly, the mobile launch was not originally expected to arrive later. When Pawprint Studio announced the release date and revealed the game’s pre-order packs last month, the Android and iOS editions were expected to debut alongside the PC and console versions.
That plan has since changed. The studio has confirmed that Aniimo will reach Android and iOS on September 23, 2026, exactly one week after today’s launch.
Good news for players who plan to move between devices. Aniimo supports both cross-play and cross-progression from launch. Players can link their accounts and carry their progress between supported platforms rather than starting from scratch each time they switch devices.
Mobile players can already prepare for launch by pre-registering through the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Explore the World of Idyll
The adventure takes place across Idyll, a sprawling continent filled with colorful environments and creatures waiting to be discovered. Players can roam the world, track down creatures, and capture them with special devices called Aniipods.
But creature collection is only part of Aniimo’s formula.
The game’s standout feature is its “Twine” mechanic. After collecting creatures, players can twine with them and temporarily transform into their chosen Aniimo. This allows players to tap into that creature’s abilities during combat and while solving environmental puzzles.
That mechanic gives exploration a different rhythm. A creature is not simply another entry in a collection. Its unique skills can help players confront enemies or navigate obstacles scattered throughout Idyll.
Competitive Battles and Egg Heist
Combat also extends beyond creature encounters. Players can challenge other Pathfinders they encounter during their journey, adding a competitive layer to the open-world adventure.
Aniimo also launches with a PvPvE mode called “Egg Heist.” The mode brings together three-player teams for real-time searches and battles across the Lost Isles region.
Its blend of player-versus-player and player-versus-environment encounters may feel familiar to anyone who has played games such as Arc Raiders or Marathon. Teams must contend with surrounding threats while other players compete in the same space.
With creature collection, open-world exploration, transformations, environmental puzzles, competitive encounters, and Egg Heist available from launch, Aniimo has a fairly broad package for players to explore.
For now, PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X|S players can start their journey through Idyll. Android and iOS players will get their chance on September 23, 2026.
