After a string of rumours, leaks and speculations, here’s some tidbit about the upcoming Galaxy S6 from Samsung’s abode. With less than 20 days left for Samsung to officially launch the 2015 flagship, it has now teased the camera of the upcoming device.

In an official blogpost, DongHoon Jang, Senior VP and Head of Camera R&D Group talks about how the company has brought advancement in the cameras seen in the Galaxy series.

“Since our first camera phone, we have focused on improving the functionality and the quality of our smartphone cameras to provide consumers with the freedom of being able to carry just one mobile device. Aggressively investing in R&D, we accepted the challenge of integrating a more powerful camera into the slim body of a smartphone because we believe that a smartphone should do a lot more than just take great pictures,” he said.

He spoke about how the company has been working on the Galaxy series flagships, right from the S to S5. Teasing further about the 2015 flagship, Jang said, “We meticulously evaluate every single facet of our smartphone cameras by taking over 10,000 photos in every imaginable lighting environment for analysis. The same passion and dedication has been put into building the cameras for the release of our 2015 flagship model. It will be intelligent and do all the thinking for users, allowing them to take amazing pictures under any conditions, without having to worry about anything more than just pressing the shutter button.”

Teasing further he said, “It (2015 flagship) will demonstrate just how far Samsung has advanced smartphone cameras, and once again will open the creative side of our users for new ideas and new possibilities.”

Earlier today, another report said that Samsung will be launching two Galaxy S6 iterations sporting 5.1-inch displays, one of them will feature a three-sided display.

Previous reports have been hinting at Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge to be the names of the upcoming devices. The devices are likely to be available in four different colour choices.

In terms of specs , the Galaxy S6 may feature an Ultra HD 4K display, 4GB RAM and a 20MP camera. An initial specs list for S6 said that the device would have a 5.3-inch 4K AMOLED display, a 64-bit Exynos 7420 or Snapdragon 810 processor depending on the country, 5 megapixel front camera, and Broadcom’s new sensor chip.

Samsung is also expected to release the Galaxy S6 with Exynos 7 and LTE.  Initially, Samsung was testing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, but it was found to cause over heating, which made Samsung drop the idea of using the Snapdragon 810 SoC. Qualcomm has agreed to rework the Snapdragon 810 SoC for Samsung’s flagship device.

Another report last week had revealed that the 32GB Galaxy S6 variant is likely to be priced at 749 euros that is approximately Rs 53,000, 64GB at 849 euros which comes to approximately Rs 62,000 and and 128GB version to cost 949 euros (approx. Rs 69,300). The 32GB Galaxy S6 Edge is likely to be priced at 849 euros that is about Rs 59,500, 64GB version at 949 euros (approx. Rs 66,400) and 128GB variant at 1049 euros which comes to Rs 73,300.
