Xiaomi Redmi 1s set to launch in India on August 26

Xiaomi’s Redmi 1S will also be coming to India

If the chatter online is to be believed, Xiaomi is all set to conduct a bloggers meet in India on August 26. The company has started sending out invites to certain media people. According to the invite put up by NDTV, the company also plans to officially launch the Redmi 1s in India. The invite reads: “Get ready to meet the Redmi 1s and Hugo Barra.”
In July, Xiaomi had announced the Redmi 1s for the Indian market will be sold at Rs 6,999. The company had also announced the Redmi Note for Rs 9,999. The Redmi 1S sports a 4.7-inch 720p IPS display. It comes powered by a 1.6GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 quad-core processor coupled with 1GB RAM. On the storage front, one can expect 16GB onboard storage and a microSD card slot that further expands it up to 64GB. It is fuelled by a 2000mAh battery and runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Xiaomi’s MIUI layer on top. One can also expect an 8MP rear shooter and a 1.6MP front camera.

On Tuesday, the company will also put up another 20,000 units of its Mi 3 on sale on Flipkart. The company claims to have already received over 1,00,000 registrations. However, the registrations window is still open until Monday midnight.
Apart from the phone, Xiaomi’s 5200mAh Power bank is now listed for pre-order on Flipkart for Rs 799. Xiaomi has also put up a screen protector and flip covers for pre-order on Flipkart. The flip covers are available for Rs 559 each, while the screen protector will cost Rs 179.
Additionally, the company is hosting a contest for Mi fans, giving them the opportunity to win 10 Mi phones and 20 Mi in-ear headphoness. Users need to visit the contest pageand tell Xiaomi what features you would like in your own smartphone.
