Samsung’s four years of Android updates are currently the fastest. Still, it seems like OnePlus is planning on releasing updates for four years. It means that for 2023’s smartphones, which would be their four-year update, all of their phones will get the updates.
The OnePlus Update Schedule Will Be Changing Permanently.
OnePlus has announced that it will now provide four years of significant software updates and five years of security updates for all phones released in 2023. OnePlus didn’t comment on the specific devices that would be a part of the new cycle.
The next flagship phone could be the first to participate in the program.
It will be on par with Samsung’s major update cycle. It may help OnePlus has the edge over other phone manufacturers. Plus, given the recent ‘Oppo-fication’ of OxygenOS, this news might prove suitable for people who don’t like the changes. For those who don’t know, Google offers three years of significant updates and four years of security. To recall, last year, Google promised three years of updates for its flagship phones.
OnePlus has confirmed that the company targets releasing updates every two months. They have also confirmed that the OxygenOS 13.1 update will release in the first half of 2023, and it is most likely that the OnePlus 11 will have this when it is released.
OnePlus has announced that they plan to start this new update cycle in 2023. In other words, they’ll release two OP updates each year. We also need to determine whether older OP models will get updates at the same rate of speed and how fast future updates will be.
OnePlus has been responsive, and they’ve addressed many of our concerns with their new updates. They need to be careful not to alienate current users. Otherwise, this will end up attracting more criticism. What are your thoughts on the update? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments below.
