Huawei P50 Pocket, which features a clamshell design and a circular outside display, has been launched.
Huawei has joined the clamshell foldable phone bandwagon with the introduction of the Huawei P50 Pocket in China today. Huawei has previously launched two tablet-style foldable. This phone appears to be ready to take on the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, with features including a circular cover display, a fast refresh rate folding screen, a patented hinge design, and more.
Huawei P50 Pocket Specifications
To begin with, the Huawei P50 Pocket’s appearance is similar to the Galaxy Z Flip 3. The multi-dimensional hinge, which aids in the smooth flat-holding and crease-free design, is one of the foldable’s main selling factors. It has a smaller radius than its predecessors and is supposed to be more durable. When folded, the gadget is around 15mm thick and just 7.2mm thick when unfurled. It weighs 190 grammes, which is reasonable for a foldable phone.
It has a 6.9-inch Full-HD+ foldable AMOLED display with a 21:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2790 x 1188p. The foldable inner panel also has a refresh rate of 120Hz, a touch sampling rate of 300Hz, a DCI-P3 colour gamut, and HDR compatibility. There’s also a centred punch-hole selfie camera onboard.
The double ring design on the outer panel of the Huawei P50 Pocket is its distinguishing feature. One circular ring has the 1.04-inch smart cover display, while the other ring houses the triple camera system. This one, like the Z Flip 3’s cover display, shows call/message notifications, calendar updates, music playback options, and more.
You may also take selfies with the primary camera by using the outside display. The smart cover display offers a 340 x 340p resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. Here’s a video of the P50 Pocket’s cover display in action:

The device’s circular triple camera ring houses a 40MP True-Chroma main camera, a 13MP ultra-wide lens, and a 32MP Ultra-Spectrum camera with a 120-degree field of view. The cameras on Huawei phones have always been a crucial differentiator, and the P50 Pocket appears to be no exception. There are several new camera technology and functions to be found here.
The Chinese conglomerate did not divulge the processor that would power its newest foldable smartphone, although it is expected to be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 from last year. You can even buy up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The P50 Pocket is powered by a 4,000mAh battery, which also supports 40W rapid charging. NFC, Bluetooth 5.2, and a USB Type-C connector are among the connectivity possibilities. It also comes pre-installed with HarmonyOS 2.
