An unbelievably good deal has emerged from the GTA community, as one player revealed he pre-ordered GTA 6 for just over two dollars. The Reddit user tangyredapple explained that a cache of overlooked cashback rewards significantly reduced the cost of Rockstar’s upcoming release.
Forgotten Rewards Turned an $80 Purchase Into a $2 Deal!
In a Reddit post, user tangyredapple explained that the standard $79.99 price of GTA 6 Standard Edition dropped by a whopping $77.87, leaving an slightly more than $2 to pay when purchasing.

The reason for such a pleasant surprise was the cashback rewards from a Best Buy credit card that appeared after buying a PlayStation 5, which the user had forgotten about until the pre-orders for GTA 6 opened.
According to tangyredapple:
"Upgraded to the PS5 Pro a few months ago just to make sure my setup was ready for launch. Totally forgot I used my Best Buy card for the console and racked up a ton of cash back from it."
After noticing the unused reward certificates sitting in the account, the player combined them with a separate 10% discount coupon. The stacked savings reduced the final cost to almost nothing.
The Reddit user later added:
"I checked my account today when the pre-orders went live, stacked my reward certificates with a 10% off coupon, and walked away paying less than three bucks for the game."
They also encouraged fellow GTA fans to inspect older reward balances before completing their own purchases.
"If you bought a console recently to prep for the game, you might basically have this paid for already."
Reward Programs Continue to Help Players Cut Costs
The GTA 6 release date has been set for November 19, 2026, and it will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Apart from the usual GTA pre-orders, Rockstar Games has several surprising ways to score discounts that have already appeared on the fan forums.
The first method is to use the Microsoft search engine Bing, sign in to your Microsoft account, and collect rewards as you shop online with Bing. One user shared that a friend managed to get a nearly 70% discount on GTA V, paying only $3 instead of $30. According to their experience, when ordering GTA 6 through Microsoft Rewards, you may get the game at a surprisingly low price.
Another player mentioned that before purchase, one should check credit card bonuses, cashback, points, and certificates. If any of these bonuses are available, a significant portion of the $69.99 or $59.99 can be deducted. Some players even reached the point where the total payment only included the two-dollar symbol.
