Galaxy S5 Rumored to Pack 4GB of RAM and 64-Bit Exynos 6 Chip

With the Galaxy S4 launch a distant memory, and the Note 3 celebrating a month on the market, rumors surrounding the upcoming Galaxy S5 are starting to solidify. We’re already heard multiple reports that the device will pack a 64-bit processor to compete with Apple’s A7 chip, but now we’re hearing yet another rumor.
Korean site Digital Times claims that the Galaxy S5 will be equipped with 4GB of RAM in a move intended to boost both its processing and marketing power. We still think the 3GB of RAM on the Galaxy Note 3 is a bit excessive, but we can’t say we’re surprised to hear Samsung may add even more memory to its next flagship handset.
The Galaxy S5 is also rumored to come with the same faux-leather plastic back casing Samsung introduced with the Galaxy Note 3 and the new Note 10.1. Earlier reports that the device might offer a metal design have largely been discounted, with many pointing to rumors the South Korean company will introduce a metallic line of Galaxy F handsets later this year. Samsung’s next flagship smartphone will likely launch in the first half of 2014, with some reports pointing to a release as early as February.
