Dell has launched its Vostro 15 3000 series of laptops starting at Rs 30,090. Featuring 15-inch displays and up to 8GB RAM, these laptops are aimed at  those looking at a laptop for home use to get regular work done.

The 3000 series laptops comes with Intel’s 4th generation processor. Depending on your budget and how you intend to use your laptop, you can choose  from lower-powered Core i3-4005U and Core i3-4030U processors to a snappier Core i5-4210U. The weight of the laptops in this range starts from 2.38kg, so they are definitely not meant to be carried around.

The Vostro 15 3000 laptops come with 15.6-inch LED screens, though at 1366×768 pixels they are not Full HD contrary to Dell’s claims. The laptops come with a choice of different operating systems including Windows 8.1 Pro 64bit, Windows 8.1 Pro China 64bit, Windows 8.1 64bit , Windows 8.1 for emerging markets 64bit and Ubuntu. They are backed by up to 8GB of RAM and built-in graphics from NVIDIA with up to 2GB memory for better performance in graphics-heavy games and apps. There’s plenty of storage space, too, with Dell offering 500GB to 1TB of of hard drive space in its laptops.

There’s a 4-cell battery, which Dell claims can last for up to 6.5 hours. However, this may change depending on how you use the laptop. For example, video playback will consume more battery than web browsing. As these are not slimline ultrabooks, Dell could accommodate all the necessary connectivity options including an optical drive, a faster USB 3.0 port and an SD card reader.
