The first four episodes of the series Stranger Things Season 5 have been released on Netflix, and they have come rushing into the audience with what almost amounts to the cinematic violence that is more familiar and somehow new. The story transports us into the sphere of characters that we love, and throws them into the mouth of an evil creature that lingers in the story like a shadow that does not want to fade away. A Demogorgon kidnaps Holly Wheeler, the nightmares-created monsters inundate the company, and Eleven is pursued with unstoppable precision by the army. The Stranger Things Season 5 fourth episode of Part 1 leaves the viewer with a shock since the action starts spinning like a storm. What Will Byers used to be, delicate and sensitive, is now seen to possess powers that are shifting the balance of the world.

And as Eleven and Hopper sleep through a bleak landscape of The Upside Down, they are attacked by soldiers. Their attack in retaliation is a last-minute but effective one, and they seize Lt. Robert Akers. Hopper questions him, and the tongue of the lieutenant remains impounded. Eleven goes in his mind and rips layers off until she comes upon a revelation behind a massive steel door. There is someone there, a secretive and powerful person being kept prisoner. Hopper betrays Akers to be clear, but he mimics ignorance. Late on, Eleven opens up to Hopper and tells her that the captive is a person of great ability, a power equal to hers. Hopper presupposes that Vecna is waiting behind the door.
The reality breaks that supposition. In the Stranger Things season 3 final episode, Hopper breaks his way inside and finds not Vecna but Kali, or 008, the mysterious test subject that Eleven adopted as a sister in Stranger Things Season 2.

Does Will Byers have Powers in Stranger Things?
Will does not possess independent powers of its own, but something in him has developed into a medium. His connection to Vecna is created by the hive mind, which is an evil web that makes a living net that knits consciousnesses together like a thread. The first scene depicts that Vecna integrated Will into this hive form many years ago. This relationship provided Henry with a surreal power to access Will’s senses in Stranger Things Season 2, where he could see through the eyes of the boy.
Will had a shadow of The Upside Down with him even after the tumult of that season, and felt the rattles of unpleasant things beneath his skin. This relationship has been accelerated by the fact that the wall between the two worlds has been reduced. The image of a Demogorgon could slide within Will’s mind as he moves among the instincts of this monster. Thus, when he insults him with being weak and almost destroys his friends, Will uses the hive mind awareness as a weapon to seize the monsters and bend their movements in a way, just like Vecna. Vecna, Will, and the Demogorgons are all on the same mental lattice, and Will uses that common network to save his loved ones.
Stranger Things Season 5 also validates what not many people expected to see: Will has a powerful connection, one that is as strong as that of Eleven. The narrative has always been the one that centers around her, but Will was the first to be marked by Vecna. Ross Duffer explains this change as a story circle going back to its origin. He informed TUDUM that it was instinctive to take the spotlight back to Will because he was the first child adopted in Stranger Things Season 1. He continues to say that nobody has the right to overthrow the reign of Vecna, except Will.
Since the very first episodes, Will was filled with an aura of strange strangeness. His composure was used to obscure his importance. At this point, having complete access to the hive mind, he unleashes it on behalf of his friends, attacking Demogorgons with a power that trembles the battlefield. Now there are not one, but two power wielders, and the prospect of their power combining to set the stage in the coming episodes is likely to burn the rest of the episodes.
