Oppo is preparing to launch the Find X9 and Find X9 Pro in India. These phones will introduce a new approach to smartphone photography in the country. Before the launch, the company announced its latest project called the Oppo LUMO Lab. It is a local effort focused on producing camera results that match how people in India perceive colour and light.
The LUMO system was first shared during the debut of the Find X9 series in China. It was created in 2023 and combines bright image processing, AI-guided adjustments, and custom-designed lenses and sensors. The goal is simple. It aims to produce colours that look realistic, especially in skin tones. It also seeks to bring the depth and soft details you usually expect from a DSLR portrait.
Now this same idea is coming to India through the LUMO Lab. Brand says the purpose of the lab is to understand and improve how cameras capture Indians’ faces, clothing, and surroundings. India has a wide range of cultures, skin undertones, and lighting conditions, and Brand wants the Find X9 series to reflect that variety with accuracy.

To make this possible, Oppo is working closely with three respected Indian photographers. Joseph Radhik, Ashik Aseem, and Zaid Salman will partner with Oppo’s imaging team to fine-tune the camera system. Their job is to help adjust colours, shadows, brightness, and texture so the final images feel natural and familiar to Indian users. It includes everything from the glow of festivals to daily street scenes.
Simon Liu, Oppo’s Global Imaging Director, stated that the LUMO Lab is an essential step in building camera features that feel personal to people in India. He explained that the project aims to understand the challenges of a diverse market and turn the camera into a helpful creative tool. He also said this is the beginning of a longer journey that will shape new styles of smartphone photography inspired by India’s rich visual story.
The LUMO Lab shows Company’s promise to create images that feel closer to real life. It is designed for both professionals and everyday users so they can express themselves with greater clarity and control. With the Find X9 series set to launch in India on November 18, 2025, users will soon see how this behind-the-scenes work translates into real photos.
