Moto X (2nd gen) gets Android 5.0 Lollipop update in India

Motorola Moto X (2nd gen) or the Moto X 2014 edition will start getting Android 5.0 Lollipop updates from this week onwards. Outside of the Nexus line, the Moto X is the first device to get an Android Lollipop update. There were reports of LG G3 also getting an Android Lollipop update, but it would needed to be downloaded manually.

This will be an over-the-air (OTA) update, but you can also manually check your phone for updates. For checking out if your device has
received the software update, you can got to: ‘Settings’ > ‘About Device’ > ‘System Update’. If it says ‘Your system is up to date’, then you will need to try after some time.

The company has said that it would start rolling out the Android Lollipop update for other Motorola devices in India soon. Apart from the regular features offered with Android 5.0 Lollipop updates, the Moto X (2nd gen) will also get some exclusive features and some functionality changes. The updates will also include the new ‘Downtime’ and ‘Interruption’ settings which will let you decide which notifications and contacts can get through to you based on the time.

The Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 phones have meanwhile already got the Android 5.0.1 updates. The update for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 handsets comes with build number LRX22C. The OTA update for the Nexus 4 is approximately 16.7MB, while the Nexus 5 update is around 13.3MB.
