MediaTek, a semiconductor company that provides high-performance embedded computing solutions for wireless, video, AI, VR, and IoT applications, has introduced its new chipset to tackle the growing need for 5G mobile networks. MediaTek has introduced its new Dimensity 1080 5G chipset for smartphones to support high-end mobile scenarios driven by 5G. It is being used by smartphone manufacturers from all over the world. New devices have been launched soon with this chipset.
MediaTek Dimensity 1080 5G – Specifications
MediaTek’s Dimensity 1080 chipset’s octa-core CPU architecture and 6nm manufacturing technology base make it a strong contender in the smartphone market. The hardware configuration consists of two Arm Cortex-A78 cores running up to 2.6 GHz and six Arm Cortex-A55 cores running up to 2.0 GHz. For reference, the maximum clock speed of the Dimensity 920 is 2.5 GHz. You can use the Mali-G88 graphics processor. The chipset is compatible with UFS 3.1 storage and LPDDR5 memory.
With the Dimensity 1080 chipset, smartphones can have up to 200MP Primary cameras and support 4K HDR videos with hardware acceleration. MediaTek’s Imagiq Image Signal Processor (ISP) enables better photography and video.
MediaTek HyperEngine 3.0 is designed to be fast when gaming and MediaTek APU 3.0 includes various artificial intelligence (AI) features that focus on the camera and performance of most devices. Battery Feature To save battery life, the phone’s screen can reach Full HD+ 120Hz at various bitrates.
The MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC is equipped with a number of useful features, including support for two 5G SIM cards, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, GLONASS, and the MediaTek 5G UltraSave power efficiency optimization suite.
The MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset will be available in smartphones until Q4 2022. However, there is currently no news on which phone will be available.
