Update: It’s live! Google Play edition HTC One M8 and M7 devices are now starting to receive the update to Android 5.0.1, build LRX22C, over the air. As always, it’ll take sometime for the updates to reach every handset out there. For those wishing to manually apply the update through stock recovery, you’ll find direct links to the over-the-air update packages, weighing in at around 500MB each, after the break.
Original story: After a long saga that has seen the Lollipop update for HTC’s One M8 Google Play Edition teased, then delayed, the company’s Product VP Mo Versi took to Twitter tonight to confirm that they have received technical approval from Google and will begin rolling the update out to GPe M8 owners starting Friday.
It was revealed last week that Lollipop testing on the M8 and M7 Google Play Editions was in its final stretch, but there was no clear indication of when the update would arrive. However, according to Versi’s tweet, the OTA should start rolling out at noon Friday (Dec. 5) — at least for the newer of the two devices:
