iPhone 15 Pro Design Rumors: Say Goodbye to Alert Slider, Hello to the Action Button

Apple has always been known for its innovative design changes with each iteration of the iPhone, and the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro is no exception. While previous rumors have hinted at various design changes, one interesting change that has surfaced recently is not related to USB-C but rather a new mute button.

iPhone 15 Get New Mute Button: Details

Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has revealed that Apple won’t adopt the solid-state button design for the power and volume buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max due to technical challenges. However, instead of sticking to the physical button design of the iPhone 14 Pro, Apple is reportedly considering a new mute button that could be called the Action button, similar to the button on the Apple Watch Ultra.

What sets this mute button apart is its added functionality beyond just muting the phone. Users may be able to customize its functionality for tasks such as reaching out to Siri, launching certain apps, and more. It could be a convenient addition for users looking for quick shortcuts and actions on their iPhones.

One of the reasons why such design changes are possible is that the iPhone 15 Pro is reportedly in the Engineering Validation Test (EVT) state, and the final product has not yet commenced. The new mute button could be a feasible option for Apple to consider for the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro.

The solid-state button design hasn’t been completely scrapped, and it could potentially be considered for the iPhone 16 Pro when technical challenges are addressed. However, if Apple goes ahead with the new mute button design, it could bring a fresh change to the physical buttons on the iPhone and provide users with additional functionality at their fingertips.

In addition to the new mute button, other design changes are rumored for the iPhone 15 series, including a larger rear camera hump, thinner bezels, rounded corners, and a new deep red color option. Standard iPhone 15 models are also expected to see changes, including Dynamic Island (formerly a Pro feature), a USB Type-C port, and other changes. Under-the-hood upgrades are also anticipated, including the new A17 Bionic chipset for the Pro models and an A16 chipset for the non-Pro models, improved camera capabilities, longer battery life, and more.

As with all rumors, it’s important to take them with a grain of salt until Apple officially unveils the iPhone 15 series, which is expected to be in September. Until then, speculation and rumors will continue circulating, keeping Apple enthusiasts excited and curious about what the new iPhone models will bring.

What are your thoughts on the potential new mute button design for the iPhone 15 Pros? Would it be a useful addition to the iPhone’s functionality? Share your thoughts in the comments section below, and stay tuned for more updates on the iPhone 15 series.
