GTA 6 Lets You Throw Dog Poop at NPCs, Because It’s GTA

If you thought Grand Theft Auto 6 had already reached the upper limits of absurdity, Rockstar Games apparently had another surprise waiting. One streamer who visited Rockstar HQ and played the upcoming game has revealed an unusually foul detail. Players will reportedly be able to pick up bags of dog poop and throw them at NPCs.

Yes, GTA 6 has apparently found a way to weaponize dog waste.

The bizarre detail surfaced after the GTA 6 Extended Look reveal, which showcased an enormous amount of environmental and character interaction. Yet even among all those elaborate systems, the ability to turn a humble doggy bag into a projectile stands out for obvious reasons.

According to popular YouTuber TGG, GTA 6 features an interaction involving NPCs walking their dogs around the open world.

TGG discussed the feature in his extended look breakdown video after spending time at Rockstar HQ playing GTA 6. During the visit, Rob Nelson, co-studio head at Rockstar North, reportedly explained how the interaction works.

The sequence begins innocently enough. An NPC walks along the street with their dog. Eventually, the dog does what dogs do.

The owner then pulls out a doggy bag and picks up the mess.

This is where GTA 6 takes a sharp turn into complete nonsense.

Players will reportedly be able to hit the NPC while they are carrying the filled bag. The impact makes the NPC drop the bag.

And yes, the player can then pick it up.

But Rockstar did not stop there.

According to TGG’s explanation of the demonstration, players can throw the bag at other people. So, a seemingly mundane dog-walking routine becomes an improvised projectile system involving one of the least glamorous objects imaginable.

Somewhere inside Rockstar’s design meetings, someone apparently asked, “What if the player could throw the dog poop?”

The answer seems to have been yes.

Rockstar Is Taking Open-World Interactions Seriously

The dog-poop interaction sounds like a throwaway gag, but the underlying system says something interesting about GTA 6’s world design.

Rockstar Games has spent years building open worlds filled with reactive characters, objects, vehicles, animals, and environmental interactions. GTA 6 appears to push those systems further by connecting small actions in ways players might not expect.

The doggy-bag scenario is a good example.

A player does not receive a conventional weapon from a mission giver. No special item pickup sits in an alley. Instead, the object originates from an ordinary NPC routine.

  • The NPC walks a dog.
  • The dog leaves a mess.
  • The owner cleans it up.
  • The player interferes.
  • The bag falls.
  • The player picks it up.
  • Then someone else gets hit with it.

That chain of events sounds ridiculous because, frankly, it is. Yet building such a sequence requires multiple world systems to interact correctly.

GTA 6 has already attracted attention for its extensive environmental detail and NPC behavior. This particular feature adds another layer to those systems, albeit one with considerably less dignity.

GTA 6’s Absurd Humor Is Still Alive

Grand Theft Auto has never treated good taste as a strict requirement.

Rockstar routinely mixes social satire, dark comedy, and ridiculous situations throughout the series. GTA 6 appears to retain that irreverent personality while giving players more freedom to create their own nonsense.

The dog-poop mechanic fits neatly into this philosophy.

The joke does not depend entirely on scripted dialogue or a cinematic scene. The humor comes from the player’s ability to notice an ordinary situation and deliberately make it ridiculous.

You could ignore the NPC and continue driving through Vice City.

Or you could wait for the dog to finish its business, watch the owner clean up, interfere with the NPC, steal the resulting bag and launch it at somebody.

Naturally, GTA players will choose the second option.

TGG even mentioned the possibility of a “dog poo bag only speedrun” after discussing the feature. The idea sounds ludicrous, which is precisely why the GTA community will likely find it entertaining.

Small Details Like This Could Make GTA 6 Feel More Reactive

The strangest part of the feature is not the poop itself. The interesting element is the chain of interactions behind it.

Rockstar appears to be designing GTA 6 around a world where minor NPC activities exist independently of the player. Characters walk dogs, react to disturbances, and interact with nearby objects.

Players can then disrupt those routines.

This approach differs from a traditional open-world setup where background characters exist mainly to populate streets. In GTA 6, small NPC behaviors appear to provide additional opportunities for player-driven chaos.

The doggy-bag example is obviously extreme. Most players will never treat such a feature as a serious gameplay mechanic.

Still, those tiny interactions contribute to the sense of a world operating beyond the main story.

A dog owner does not exist solely to give the player a mission. The NPC has a routine. The dog has its own behavior. The owner responds to the situation. Then the player decides whether to leave everything alone or turn the entire scene into an elaborate prank.

That level of interaction is where GTA’s sandbox design gets interesting.

Rockstar’s Attention to Detail Gets Weird

Rockstar has always had a reputation for obsessing over small details. GTA 6 appears to be continuing the tradition, although the doggy-bag example takes the concept somewhere nobody urgently requested.

The feature also highlights an important distinction between visual detail and systemic detail.

A game might feature incredibly realistic environments without allowing players to interact with most objects in meaningful ways. GTA 6 appears interested in the latter as well.

A filled doggy bag is hardly an impressive object visually. Letting players knock one from an NPC’s hand, pick it up, and throw it at someone else is more about systemic interaction.

The object becomes part of the sandbox because the game recognizes how the player can interact with it.

That philosophy has long been central to Grand Theft Auto. GTA 6 seems determined to take the idea further.

Would You Actually Use the Dog-Poop Feature?

For most players, this will likely rank somewhere between “completely unnecessary” and “absolutely hilarious.”

Nobody needs a dog-poop projectile system to complete GTA 6’s story. Players will have plenty of conventional activities, missions, and distractions across the game’s world.

Yet optional nonsense has always been part of the appeal.

The Grand Theft Auto series gives players a sandbox and then waits to see what kind of trouble they create inside it. Sometimes the result involves an elaborate vehicle chase. Sometimes it involves an NPC, a doggy bag and an extraordinarily questionable decision.

That unpredictability is part of GTA’s identity.

If the reported interaction works as described, GTA 6 will once again prove that Rockstar’s idea of “attention to detail” extends far beyond photorealistic environments and cinematic storytelling.

Sometimes, apparently, it means asking whether a bag of dog poop should be throwable.

Rockstar’s answer was yes.

And GTA players will almost certainly have fun with it.
