Apple leases 40,000 sq ft for Development Centre in Bengaluru

Apple has reportedly leased about 40,000 sq ft in Yelahanka, North Bengaluru. The office space is expected to house approximately 300 people spread over two floors with the opening slated for next year. The new office will be located in RMZ Galleria, a place stated to be the new business district for Bengaluru as reported by Times of India. Galleria, a 3 lakh sq ft office space belongs to Standard Brick Tile Company. There was no official statement or response from Apple at the time of writing.


Apple announced the opening of a development accelerator in Bengaluru for a new development and app design accelerator for iOS in May. This accelerator will focus on supporting the engineering talent to increase the pace of growth for the developer community. Apple will work with the developers, providing them with tools, mentors, and instructors on best development practices. These will improve the skillset and impact the quality of the iOS apps developed in the country.

This support will extend from iOS design and programming to Swift, a programming language developed by Apple for its devices. This facility is the second one after the first facility in Hyderabad. The technology centre is set to focus on the development of Apple Maps while employing 4,000 people as reported by Economic Times.
