Not much sums up the Grand Theft Auto experience more than when you’re driving around with the radio blasting while the world falls apart.
A chase feels different when the right tune starts playing. Driving around Vice City in silence feels like an completely different experience. The music in Grand Theft Auto VI is thoughtfully designed to complement the gameplay and enhance the overall atmosphere. Rockstar Games knows how to create a soundtrack that suits the action, and this is no exception.
Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look will be released by Rockstar and Netflix on August 27, 2026. The approximately half-hour-long show lets fans get to know Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, the fictional state of Leonida, and the modern-day reconquest of Vice City. According to Rockstar’s official site, GTA VI will arrive on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19, 2026.
The presentation also had fans hoping for more GTA 6 music, though it was subtle.
Rockstar packed the long-dreaded look with hip-hop, rock, pop, country, electronic, and Latin and Caribbean-inspired songs. The result looks much bigger than the 1980s image many have of the original Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

Phil Collins provides one of the most recognizable classic songs in the extended look with “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now).”
The track appears later in the presentation and offers another strong connection to the kind of dramatic, emotional music Grand Theft Auto has used effectively in the past.

GTA 6 Trailer 1 and Trailer 2 Songs
The musical story of GTA 6 started long before the Netflix extended look.
Trailer 1, released in December 2023, introduced the game with Tom Petty’s “Love Is a Long Road.” The song became closely associated with the first look at Leonida and remains one of the most recognizable pieces of GTA 6 promotional music.
Trailer 2 arrived in May 2025 and expanded the soundtrack further.
The main song was The Pointer Sisters’ “Hot Together.” The trailer also featured “Everybody Have Fun Tonight” by Wang Chung, “Talkin’ to Myself Again” by Tammy Wynette, and “Child Support” by Haitian konpa group Zenglen featuring Reginald Cangé. Rockstar officially released Trailer 2 on May 6, 2025.

GTA 6 Music Is Not Stuck in the 1980s
Calling GTA 6 a return to Vice City naturally creates expectations of neon lights, retro fashion, sports cars, palm trees, and 1980s music.
Rockstar still uses those ingredients.
The difference is that GTA 6 appears to treat Vice City as a modern location rather than a museum dedicated to one decade.
The extended look moves from Birdman and Lil Wayne to Kodak Black, from Def Leppard to Depeche Mode, then from Phil Collins to Aluna and Jayda G.
That range matters because Leonida is presented as a contemporary version of Florida. A soundtrack built around 1980s nostalgia entirely would limit the world Rockstar is trying to create.
The music revealed so far suggests Rockstar wants the opposite.
You get old songs. You get current artists. You get rock, country, rap, electronic music, pop, and Caribbean-influenced sounds.
In other words, the radio might have more mood swings than Jason and Lucia.
Why the GTA 6 Soundtrack Matters
A Grand Theft Auto soundtrack does more than fill the background while you drive.
