Google’s kid-friendly YouTube is finally here! As promised, the YouTube Kids app is available for download for free on Google Play. It has also been launched for the iOS platform.

It is the first Google product built from the ground up with little ones in mind. The app aims at making it safer and easier for children to find videos on topics they want to explore.

The user-interface has been designed keeping kids in mind with larger images and bold icons. The Search giant has also built in voice search so that even if your child can’t spell or type, they can still find videos of things they’re curious about.

“You can browse channels and playlists in four categories: Shows, Music, Learning and Explore. Or search for videos of particular interest to your family, like how to build a model volcano, math tutorials, the amazing (and endless) world of trains—and everything in between,” Google explains in its official blogpost.

Needless to say, Google has included parental control features. To ensure your child isn’t spending too much time on YouTube, the app comes with a times that alerts your child when the session is over. Under sound settings, you can turn off music and sound. You can also limit your children to just the pre-selected videos available on the home screen and turn off search. Google has also included a space for parents to give their feedback.

Looks like, Google is now looking to woo younger audiences. It recently acquired the augmented reality firm Launchpad Toys. It also launched the View-Master as a $30 VR headset along with toy-maker Mattel.

Currently available for users in the US, YouTube Kids can download from and Apple .
