To compete with the budget wonder Moto E, Micromax has now launched the all new Unite 2 smartphone priced similarly at Rs 6,999. It is the first Micromax smartphone running Android KitKat and will be available across all leading retail outlets in India starting today. Another highlight of the device is its support for 21 regional languages.

The Micromax Unite 2 sports a 4.7-inch IPS display with 800×480 pixels of resolution. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, coupled with 1GB RAM. The chipset is not mentioned.  On the camera front, one can expect 5-megaixel rear snapper with flash and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. It also packs in camera features such as beauty mode, live photo mode and panorama. The device comes dipped in four vivid colours – grey, white, red and green.

With 4GB  onboard storage, it can be expanded further up to 32GB via microSD card. The connectivity options include GPS, Bluetooth v4.0 and Wi-Fi. All of this is fuelled by a 2000 mAh battery. It runs on the latest 4.4.2 KitKat OS, and the company claims that it can be easily upgraded via FOTA, offering features including voice search, Google Drive, Hangouts for video calls, smart contact prioritisation and more.

The Micromax smartphone also comes pre-loaded with apps like MAd, Getit, Kingsoft Office, Opera Mini, Hike, M!Games, M!live and more.

Commenting on the launch, Shubhodip Pal, CMO, Micromax said, “We firmly believe that support for local languages on phones will perhaps be the next big driver for day to day phone transactions, internet usage and online content consumption in India given that most of the population does not use English as their primary language. We aim to create a powerful medium for our consumers to interact, engage, entertain and connect in their preferred language to remove any barrier for technology adoption for the masses in the country.”
