The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold 2022 is the follow-up to the X1 Fold, which debuted in 2020. It bills itself as the world’s lightest 16-inch commercial laptop. The laptop has a 16.3-inch OLED foldable display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, 600 nits of peak brightness, HDR, a 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, and other features. There’s also an option for a magnetic-attachment pen.

When folded, it results in two 12-inch screens, making it more portable and small. Multiple modes, including Classic clamshell or laptop mode, Landscape mode, Portrait mode, Book mode, and Tablet mode, may be activated using the Mode Switcher UI.

Lenovo’s folding laptop has a bell-shaped system hinge that allows the OLED screen to fold flat when unfurled or folded. The display UI has been updated to fold the non-active region, making the laptop and bezel slimmer. Additionally, it incorporates patent-pending folding graphite sheets for improved heat dissipation.

The ThinkPad X1 Fold 2022 is equipped with an up to 12th Gen Intel Core i7 CPU, with 32GB LPDDR5 RAM, up to 1TB PCIe SSD storage, and Intel Iris Xe Graphics. It has a 48Whr battery and a 65W AC Rapid Charge fast charger. It has a 3-speaker Dolby Atmos system and runs Windows 11 Pro.

There are two Intel Thunderbolt 4 connectors, a USB-C port, a nano SIM-card tray, Wi-Fi 6E, 5G compatibility, and Bluetooth version 5.2. A 5MP RGB+IR camera with an Intel Visual Sensing Controller (VSC) chip, “wake-on-approach,” Windows Hello, “onlooker recognition,” “walk-away-lock,” and other functions is included.

The new Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Fold also has a full-size backlit ThinkPad keyboard with a touch fingerprint scanner, TrackPoint, and a big haptic touchpad as an option. The TrackPoint Communications Rapid Menu App on the keyboard provides quick access to camera and microphone controls.
