As you may know, the very first devices to get updated to the latest version of Android are Google’s Nexus devices and Play Edition devices. Even though Google unveiled Android 4.4 KitKat today, the actual update hasn’t been pushed to any devices yet. Google says that the new update should be available to the Nexus and GPe devices in the coming weeks.
However, Android 4.4 KitKat is already being pushed to AOSP (Android Open Source Project) and the proprietary binaries and factory images should get released anytime now for the Nexus devices. Updates for Google Play Edition devices aren’t handled by Google itself, so they always take a little more time than the Nexus devices.
We will let you guys know as soon as Google starts to roll out Android 4.4 KitKat update to the Nexus 10 and GPe Galaxy S4, so stay tuned!
