IFA 2015: Sony Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and 4K display sporting Xperia Z5 Premium unveiled

Sony has released three phones as was speculated some days back namely the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and the 4K display sporting industry-first Xperia Z5 Premium. While the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact are regular updates to the Xperia flagship line, the Xperia Z5 Premium takes things to the next level on the display front.

The Xperia Z5 Premium features a 5.5-inch 4K Triluminos display giving a mind-boggling 806PPI pixel density. Sony promises that it will upscale images and full HD videos to 4K resolution. To ensure a supposed ‘2-day’ battery life on the Xperia Z5 Premium, Sony has put in a 3,430mAh battery in the Premium. The phone comes in chrome, gold and black variants. Pricing will be revealed November when it will be launched and it will come in both single SIM and dual SIM variants both of which support 4G Cat 6 LTE as well.

The Xperia Z5 comes with a 5.2-inch full HD display sporting the same design as its predecessor – the Xperia Z3+ and the Xperia Z5 Compact comes with a 4.6-inch HD display. All three phones sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC along with the Adreno 430GPU and 3GB RAM for Z5 and Z5 Premium and 2GB RAM for the Z5 Compact. All the phones come with 32GB of on-board storage with the Z5 Premium letting you add on upto 200GB via a microSD card to give storage space for your 4K content. Also the power button on the phones also functions as a finger-print sensor.

All the phones with run the Sony flavoured Android 5.1.1. On the camera front, all three smartphones will rock a 23MP ExmorRS sensor sporting camera with a 1/2.3-inch sensor size. The phones will have Sony’s G series lens with an f/2.0 aperture. You will now be able to shoot 20MP images in 16:9 aspect ratio and 23MP images in the 4:3 aspect ratio.

While the Xperia Z5 comes with a 2,900mAh battery, the Xperia Z5 Compact sports a 2,600mAh battery. Just like the Xperia Z5 Premium, the pricing details of the Z5 and Z5 Compact will also be revealed in October.
