Apple refreshes MacBook Air, MacBook Pro line with faster processors, Force Touch trackpad

Apple’s Spring Forward event saw the official release of the new MacBook and eagerly awaited Apple Watch, but along with these products, Apple also refreshed its MacBook Air and MacBook Pro lines.

The major addition to both the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro is the latest OS X Yosemite operating system. MacBook Pro will also get the Force Touch trackpad, which was announced yesterday while launching the new MacBook.

Force Touch trackpad which has built-in force sensors that allows users to customise the trackpad based on the pressure exerted. There’s also a new gesture called Force Click, which is essentially a click followed by a deeper press, and can be set for specific tasks like checking the meaning of a word or seeing a map, etc. It also eliminates the right click.

The 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air will get either a 1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor or a 2.2GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 processor along with Intel HD 6000 graphics. Both will come with  Thunderbolt 2 port (which doubles the bandwidth to 20Gbps), 4GB or 8GB of RAM and will have Wi-fi 802.11ac.

The 11-inch MacBook Air will come in two variants – 128GB flash storage which will come for Rs 65,900 and the 256GB flash storage model which will start from Rs 79,900. With the 13-inch MacBook Air, the 128GB flash storage version will cost Rs 72,900 whereas the 256GB flash storage variant will set you back by Rs 86,900.

The 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display will also get new faster 2.7GHz/2.9GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 or 3.1GHz dual-core Core i7 processors along with Intel HD 6100 graphics, Thunderbolt 2 and better battery life. The MacBook Pro will be priced at Rs 94,000 for 8GB RAM and 128GB flash storage variant, Rs 1,09,000 for the 256GB variant and Rs 1,29,000 for the 512GB flash storage version.
